Green Designing

Sales for new jewelry have been down with all the economic issues. However, I seem to be finding a new niche with green designing. This is a great time to repair, re-purpose, and re-use items and jewelry is not exception. I have had several customers bringing in items for repair, or re-design for items. Sometimes there are items that are sentimental and you just want to repair them. Other times you have a item with some good gemstones or elements that you want to keep but just redesign. For example, a friend brought me a lovely piece that she purchase in Arizona about 20 years ago that was only worn a few times. It was sentimental but it just was too big and uncomfortable. I was able to redesign the piece into a new design that she could enjoy and wear, and be stylish with an up-to-date design. What a great way to go green! So go clear out your jewelry boxes and see what ideas you can come up with. I'm sure you have something that could be freshened up and re-purposed.
